CELL CULTURE FEED MEDIA

Ajinomoto CELLiST Korea’s CELLiST FEED Media for CHO cell lines are developed based on Ajinomoto’s expertise in amino acid science and over 30 years of experience in the cell culture media business. CELLiST Media are high-performance, chemically-defined media, free from any animal-derived ingredients.

CELLiST FEED Media

CELLiST FEED Media is a highly concentrated feed medium designed for achieving optimal culture performance in CHO cell lines. CELLiST FEED Media will ensure optimal culture growth and productivity, as well as protein quality, to satisfy your process goals. CELLiST FEED Media could be used in combination with any media, although designed and optimized for use with CELLiST BASAL Media.

Background:

CELLiST F7 feed medium employs Ajinomoto Group’s proprietary cysteine-stabilization technology, ensuring high concentrations of cysteine are continuously available for your CHO cells throughout the culture, leading to greatly improved performance. This is achieved by drastically reducing the naturally-occurring oxidation of L-cysteine to cystine dimers, leading to increase in the amounts of available cysteine, while also improving stability and shelf-life.

Optimization of amino acids formulation through joint development
with A*STAR’s Bioprocess Technology Institute.

Cutting-edge ‘Digital Twin’ and AI technologies were employed for optimizing metabolic flux in key pathways, such as the TCA cycle, leading to significant improvement in specific productivity and culture growth, and reduced levels of toxic by-products.

Key Findings on CHO Cell Metabolism and Feed Media :

Our study reveals that feed media enriched with asparagine and aspartate significantly enhance CHO cell growth and IgG1 productivity compared to glutamate-based feeds. We discovered that a balanced Asn/Asp ratio of around 3 optimizes energy metabolism, reduces ammonia accumulation, and supports efficient TCA cycle flux. These insights contribute to improved bioprocessing strategies for higher cell density and antibody production.
